TOWER OF PISA:
INCLINATION REDUCED
33 CM RECOVERED

Monday December 5th 2000

(AGI) Pisa - The inclination of the Tower of Pisa is reduced, effected by the excavation under the foundation. 33 centimetres have been recovered in the last 18 months.

At the end of the work, it is expected that the tower will lean less by an overall 38 cm. The bell tower's inclination will take the tower back by about 200 years, since the so-called 'bucket' was built at its base. (AGI)
