Mass of Requiem with Bocelli and noted singers for the reopening June 17 |
|
VIRGONE PISA. There will be a Requiem Mass of Green to give salute to the Leaning Tower, reopened after 12 years, June 17, 2001, on the festival of the patron of Pisa, St. Ranieri. An exceptional event celebrated with a concert in the Cathedral of Piazza dei Miracoli that has already singed performer Andrea Bocelli. But along with him there will be other excellent names, most notable - announces the same Pisan singer though not ready to give specifics - at the height of the event: redeliver to the city and to the world a monument that Unesco has declared a patrimony of all humanity, the famous leaning bell tower. The event has been presented, at the threshold of Christmas, by the two leaders of the Harp, the association born in Pisa for the research and information in the medical field: the real one, surgeon Franco Mosca, and the honorary one, Andrea Bocelli. With them professor Piero Floriani, representing the Work of the Primaziale, the guardian of the monuments in the historical Piazza dei Miracoli, in whose building the event is held and where the press conference was held yesterday. The Cathedral of Pisa will be arranged for a thousand persons, the entry will be free and, for this beneficent purpose, whoever chooses may make a contribution to Harp. The performers will sing live but the concert will also be broadcast in the Piazza dei Miracoli for whoever is present. |
