Thursday 4 January 2001, 18: 06

(AGI)- Pisa, 4 January - Eleven years ago- January 7 1990- the Tower of Pisa was closed to the public. Today, nearing its redelivery to the city, the first work of "embellishment" is being initiated. In fact, the cables applied at the height of the second floor, to avoid structural movement of the monument, are being replaced with others, of stainless steel, that will bandage the bell tower at the same height. The motive of this substitution is to make the belt "invisible", whose width is reduced from 30 to 14 centimeters.

Besides, the new one - constituted of more than 100 small cables, each of the diameter of spaghetti, would have an unlimited duration in the time. (AGI)
