VENICE. "Venice Fairs" has yesterday hosted a display prepared by the Work of the Primaziale in collaboration with the committee for the safeguard of the Tower, for the popularization of the work carried to term to put the famous bell tower in safety in sight of the reopening to the public, confirmed for December 15 next.

At the presentation were the president of the Primaziale Pierfrancesco Pacini, the mayor of Pisa Paul Fontanelli and the president of the committee of the "wise" Michele Jamiolkowski. Professor Pacini, before a qualified audience formed of specialized and studious journalists, he has explained the importance of the material restoration that, in the next years, will polish the splendid architectural marble. The definitive plan foresees a financial appointment estimated to be 4,854,690 euro (equal to 9 billion, 400 million lire) implemented over five years.

For the realization in the workyard a solution has been presented of scaffolding that will allow intervention floor by floor without covering the whole Tower, which will stay, therefore, accessible and visible. During the work of restoration, guided visits will also be programmed at the same time. The price of the ticket to get on the Tower was also confirmed - (15 euro, 29.045 lire).

During the presentation the mayor and president Pacini have communicated, respectively, that to Jamiolkowski, honorary citizenship of Pisa will be attributed next 17 December, and he will be awarded the 2002 Fibonacci Prize that, for this year (the ceremony is there tomorrow) has been assigned to the engineer.
