Tower of Pisa Beaten to Title of 'Most Tilted Tower in the World'

Suurhusen, Germany (7 Nov 2008) - Reports from many sources about the ceremony in which the tower on the 15th century Protestant Church in Suurhusen, Germany was declared "the most tilted tower in the world." by Olaf Kuchenbecker, manager of the German edition of the Guinness World Records. The steeple tilts at an angle of 5.17 degrees, compared to Pisa's 3.97 degrees. The Suurhuusen tower is about half as tall, built of wood, much lighter that Pisa's Tower, able to maintain stability at a greater angle. All reports good naturedly acknowledge Pisa's Leaning Tower to be the World's most famous.
